- Honor 8X: Peak performance for a low price
- For only Php 12,990 at launch the 8X is an affordable mid-range high performance phone that you can gift or have for yourself this holiday season.
Honor (a sub-brand of Huawei) has launched its new phone with flagship specs and features for a super affordable price.
Before the review let’s check out its specs:
DISPLAY : 6.5-inch, fullHD+ resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio
CAMERA : Rear: 20MP+2MP | Front: 16MP
PROCESSOR: HiSilicon Kirin 710
RAM: 4GB
ROM: 128GB
BATTERY: 3,750 mAh
SIM SLOT : Dual SIM Slots with Micro SD
First thing you’ll notice when you get the phone is its premium feel with the glass back aluminum sides and a big 6.5 inch screen, with a 91% screen to body ratio and a small notch on top which you can hide through the phone’s settings.
Its large screen is the perfect multimedia companion and it protects your eyes as well with its eye comfort mode certified by TuV. Also with the notch turned off you’ll never get that annoyed with a cut-out on your screen. At the back of the phone are dual-cameras, the flash, and a fingerprint sensor.
The button layout on this phone is a bit different since it only has buttons on the right side, the volume buttons and the power button below making it easier to take selfies with one hand.
Speaking of selfies the 8X has a 16MP AI front camera and 20MP+2MP dual rear AI cameras for taking those awesome photos with realistic bokeh. You could also take an ultra-snapshot by double tapping the volume down button and the phone will immediately take a photo of what it sees.
The 8X can also handle games smoothly with its HiSilicon Kirin 710. During testing we played PUBG on medium settings while on mobile data and it handles it well with a few dropped frames but doesn’t really disrupt the game.
Unlocking the phone is pretty quick too and you have several ways of unlocking it, the fastest way is by touching the fingerprint sensor on the back, next is face unlock where after detecting your face you have to swipe up to unlock and if you can’t do either of them you could simply enter your PIN.
With its massive 3750mah battery it can last you all day with a few more left extra and when you need a quick top up it also supports fast charging to charge it quickly while on the go. Another thing the phone has is a dual-SIM slot with a dedicated micro SD slot so you don’t have to give up your other SIM just to expand your memory.
