This year’s Cinema One Originals Film Festival (@c1origs) gathered diverse conversations among film enthusiasts and fans from opening to closing of the festival. Tweeps express their opinions and appreciation, as #C1Originals draws to a close and gives recognition to the most outstanding entries at the #C1Originals Awards Night.
The award for Best Actress and Best Actor went to Iyah Mina (@Real_iyahmina) of Mamu (And a Mother Too) (@MamuMovie2018) and Alwyn Uytingco (@alwynzky) for Asuang, respectively. This is the first time in Philippine film history that a transgender woman was recognized for playing the lead female role in a movie. Supporters from the LGBT community on Twitter were quick to express their agreement and appreciation for Iyah’s contribution to promote gender equality.
