Barangay 143 is a Pinoy anime series set in Tondo, Manila. This will show the Filipinos’ love for basketball. It will air this October on GMA Network. Kapuso stars Julie Anne San Jose, Kelley Day, Migo Adecer, Ruru Madrid, John Arcilla, Edu Manzano and Cherie Gil are set to lend their voices to the characters.
Barangay 143.
According to Managing Director and Co-Founder of Synergy88 Digital Jackeline Chua, the story is inspired by Filipino lives.
“Barangay 143 is inspired by our own life, our own challenges in life, our ups and downs. Bola (Ball) is life. Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down but all you have to do is be strong and roll with the punches.”
Barangay 143 will also be available in the form of a web comics. The Barangay 143 Street League mobile game is already available on the Google Play Store for Android and the iOS App Store.
No Sylvia?
In earlier reports, Sylvia Sanchez was said to be one of the actresses to lend her voice to a character named, Tita Baby. She will be the barangay captain who serves as the mother to the team.
When the anime series was launched, Sylvia even went to the press conference.
According to rumors, the series will air on GMA Network and since Sylvia is a Kapamilya actress, producers decided to let go of her. Lorna Tolentino is said to replace Sylvia for the role.
