Philippine Idol was the first version of the Idol series in the Philippines which aired in 2006 on TV5. Although TV5 considered producing the second season, they eventually abandoned the plan. This gave GMA Network a chance to incarnate the second version of the series. Pinoy Idol was aired in 2008.

Regine officially signed with ABS-CBN on October 17, Wednesday. She is taking a seat as a judge in the Search for the Idol Philippines.
Aside from ‘Idol Philippines,’ Regine is already bound to sing the theme song for The General’s Daughter and the ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID. She is already set to perform in ASAP and star in a sitcom with her husband Ogie Alcasid.
