- Regine Velasquez talks about the reason why she transferred to the Kapamilya network.
- Her statement implied that she is not just after money and fame.
- The singer also considers ABS-CBN a home since her career first started there.
Since the rumor spread that Regine Velasquez is transferring to ABS-CBN, fans continued to question her loyalty and greed for money.
Some say that she no longer had a place in GMA, while some suggests that she is only after the money.
Regine, after signing the contract, explained that neither of the two allegations is true. Her true intention for transferring network is nowhere near being materialistic.
“You know at my age, and at the stage of my career, we all know, you know, alam n’yo namang lahat ng mga reporter dito, na mga kaibigan ko na, hindi naman ako ilusyunadang tao.
The reason why I’m here is because, hindi ko alam kung hanggang kailan ko pa kayang kumanta and I want to work with their talented singers. ‘Yun talaga ‘yun.
“Na bago man lang matapos ‘yung career ko, nasabi kong nakatrabaho ko rin ang number one station,” she explained.
The Asia’s Songbird also took the time to express her gratitude to her former home network.
“First of all, I just want to say that 20 years po ako sa GMA and I am very thankful to them. I am grateful to them.
Regine almost cried during the contract signing ceremony. She did not expect ABS-CBN will welcome her that warmly.
“Actually, not a lot of people know, I actually started here in ABS-CBN. I did, I started here. They gave me a chance, they gave me a television show na talagang practically, hindi po ako kilala.
“Nag-uumpisa pa lang ako nu’n, I was 16 or 17 years old, and I did 2 TV shows. I did Teen Pan Alley kasama ko si Janno Gibbs at si Bing Loyzaga, and then ‘yung Triple Treat.
“Nakakatuwa. I’m so overwhelmed actually.
“Kaya kanina pa ako umiiyak kasi nao-overwhelm po talaga ako, and at the same time kinakabahan ako.
“I’m excited, I’m very excited, lalo na nung nadinig ko na ‘yung mga gagawin ko,” she ended.
