Marlo Mortel has been working in the showbiz industry for almost a decade. He recently had a blog conference for his first major concert, imMORTELized. This will happen on October 26, Friday at the Music Museum.
Marlo’s vanity.
During the said conference, Marlo talked about whether or not he is a vain person. He had a valid excuse for being vain. He, however, would rather spend his days wearing his home-clothes.
“Masasabi kong vain ako dahil kailangan. Dahil celebrity. Pero kung hindi… Mas gusto ko ngang naka-pambahay lang ako lagi. Napapagalitan nga ako, sinasabihan na ko mukha daw akong naka-pambahay… Pero, kailangan eh. Kailangan namin as an artist. Hindi naman ‘yung super vain pero kailangan lang naming mag-ayos.”

Marlo revealed that his clothes and shoes are always from sponsors. His late mother, Merlie Pamintuan, and his father handled his money. Until now, Marlo’s dad still manages the account.
“Hindi ako magastos. Lahat ng mga damit and shoes ko, more on sponsors lang lahat, eh, mga ex-deals… Sa gastos, more on sa family. Kasi, lahat ng sweldo ko ever since direkta ‘yun sa family ko napupunta, eh. Mommy at daddy ko, sila ‘yung nag-aasikaso. Tapos nanghihingi lang ako ng allowance. Ngayon, ‘dun pa rin. Sa bank account pa rin na sila ‘yung nagma-manage, daddy ko. So, very budgeted talaga.”

Marlo shared that he usually has two to three thousand pesos in his wallet. He noted that he was able to afford his mother treatment with all of his earnings.
“Mga 2 to 3 [thousand]. Hindi naman [nauubos]. Pag kailangan lang, pang-gas ganyan, pang-kain. Hindi ako super magastos, eh. Kaya nga, nagtataka sila paano ko napagamot si Mommy lahat ng mag-isa. Kasi, lahat ng pera ko noon, sa kanila naka-ipon.”

Marlo buys luxurious action figures.
Marlo collects action figures. He especially loves Marvel’s Spiderman.
“Ma-luho lang ako sa toys. May collection ako ng toys, mga action figures, Marvel, Spiderman, ayan. Pero… maganda din naman siyang investment, nabebenta rin siya… Sobra akong fan ni Spiderman, bumili ako ng action figure niya na mga nasa 17 thousand… Doon ako bumibili [sa Greenhills].”
