As part of its 51st Season, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) hosts Jon Santos’ TRUMPERTE this October 26 & 27, 2018 at the PETA Theater Center.
Like the meme-able title implies, TRUMPERTE is the ultimate political spoof mash-up. Here, Jon takes to the PETA stage his hilarious impressions of Donald Trump and Digong Duterte (and many more!) for a very limited two-night run. Written by Jon Santos himself, Enrico Santos, and Joel Mercado, with stage direction by Michael Williams, this original satirical live show is guaranteed to be brave, explosive, and delightfully entertaining!
TRUMPERTE is an extra special project for Jon Santos because the comedy act caps his 30 years in show business. This gem of a performance demonstrates why no one can replace Jon as the country’s top political impersonator, and the sharpest comic barometer of society.
Just as it is special to Jon, TRUMPERTE is equally special to PETA because it is part of PETA’s Stage of the Nation, a creative campaign that hopes to utilize the arts and engage artists to contribute to the discourses that concern our nation. PETA feels that the inclusion of TRUMPERTE in the campaign would liven up the conversations with the audiences even more. After all, at the core of the wicked and hilarious spoofing, TRUMPERTE really is a careful, sophisticated social and political commentary.
Jon himself said at the launch of the Stage of the Nation, “Napaka-encouraging that we all laugh at the same places. There’s hope na alam pa rin natin ang tama at mali. Nakaka-encourage na they [audience] support live comedy as a form of healing. And they dress up, they buy a ticket, and they brave the traffic to bond with other human beings.”
