Regine Velasquez-Alcasid recently signed up with ABS-CBN on October 17, Wednesday. During a grand media press conference, Regine revealed she will be part of the judging panel of Search for the Idol Philippines.
The show is set to debut on ABS-CBN in 2019.

The Idol series came from its Hollywood version, American Idol. Many Filipino singers earned their start from the show. Jessica Sanchez was runner-up of the 11th season of American Idol i n 2012. She appeared numerous times on ABS-CBN’s Sunday noontime show, ASAP.
Jessica expressed her delight in hearing Regine transfer to ABS-CBN and be a judge for the Search for the Idol Philippines.

Philippine Idol was the first version of the Idol series in the Philippines which aired in 2006 on TV5. Although TV5 considered producing the second season, they eventually abandoned the plan. This gave GMA Network a chance to incarnate the second version of the series. Pinoy Idol was aired in 2008.
