Legendary boy band A1 isn’t new to Manila as they’re set to hold their 20th anniversary reunion concert in three venues around the country, two nights in Quezon City, one in Davao, and one in Cebu.
At the press conference held at Novotel Hotel in Araneta Center Cubao, Ben Adams, Mark Read, and Christian Ingebrigtsen are thrilled and excited to perform with member Paul Marazzi once again after his exit last 2002. They also gave the media a sample of their timeless vocals by singing a snippet of “Caught in the Middle” and “Armour,” their newest single which they granted the attendees the honor of being the first ones to hear live.
Adams also went ahead and interacted with the members of the media as they sang one of their greatest hits, “Like A Rose.” He expressed that they really feel great about coming back as Philippines is one of the countries they have a special relationship with.
Ingebrigsten then shared that one of their secrets when it comes to writing songs is that they don’t over-analyze it. “We didn’t over-think it or over-analyze lyrics. I think the secret is all four of us are given gifts of life and that melody is just dumped in our heads and we record it in order to remember them.”
When asked what they prepared for the upcoming concerts, Read answered, “We sang the very first acapella that we sang together when we first got together as a band. It sounded just as good. So in this concert, expect all your favorites and dancing as well.”
