- Tower of Power performed in Manila for the second time.
- The band is currently celebrating their 5th decade in the music industry.
Celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, Tower of Power recently made their way to Manila to show their Filipino supporters what soul music is all about.
Even before the California-based band performed, opening acts such as Hawaiian goup Kalapana and Dennis Lambert entertained the crowd with their lively and exciting songs.
The energy of the crowd immediately shot up as soon as the band appeared on-stage. They opened with ‘We Came To Play,’ ‘Soul With A Capital S,’ and ‘You Ought To Be Having Fun.’
Their music has remained the same as original members Stephen “Doc” Kupka, Emilio Castillo, and David Garibaldi were present during the show.
The perfect combination of the horns, drums, and keyboard was also accompanied by the wide vocal range of Marcus Scott, who is the newest member of the band, but he did not fail when it comes to matching the energetic instrumentals of their songs.
They also performed their songs such as ‘Only So Much Oil In the Ground,’ ‘On the Soul Side of Town,’ ‘This Time It’s Real,’ ‘You’re Still A Young Man,’ ‘What Is Hip,’ and ‘Sparkling in the Sand’ among others.
It was truly a night dedicated to music as the band played their songs with so much passion.
