- Monsour del Rosario returns to showbiz after thirteen years.
- The actor revealed that he declined “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s” offer twice due to his political career.
- He signed in for “The Trigonal” movie because he was offered a role that fits his skills and category.
Monsour del Rosario took a hiatus from showbiz for thirteen years when he entered politics. He became the first district congressman in Makati City.
The taekwondo master and action star was last seen in 2005 in the movie “Uno.” This year, he’s back to showbiz by starring in the movie “The Trigonal” by Cinefenio Film Studios, RSVP Film Studios and Piaya distributed by Viva Films.
He will be working together with Ian Ignacio, Epi Quizon, Christian Vasquez, and Rhian Ramos.
The actor revealed that he has had several offers for the last 13 years but had to say no. “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” invited him twice but he had to decline. He explained that the role they offered might lead to misrepresentation or conflict in his current political career.
“Yung unang offer daw ay congressman ang role at okay sana dahil ito rin naman talaga ang posisyon ko in real life. Kaso, congressman daw na protector ng drug lord sa Makati City.
“Sabi ko, ang pangit naman, congressman ako sa Makati City tapos protector pa ako ng drug lord sa Makati City. Sabi ko, ayoko ’yan. Sabi ko ’yung medyo positive.”
Three months passed, the production called him again and offered him another role. His new character will be a policeman, but not the typical policeman.
He will be a police protector for a certain congressman who is a protector of a certain drug lord. Again, he said no.
“Sabi ko, ‘wag naman mga ganyan. Pwede ba, mentor ako ni Coco, na nagtuturo ako kay Coco na bumaril, ako ang nagi-inspire sa kanya na maging pulis,’ something like that,” he said.
Monsour is determined not to taint his reputation as a public servant just to be on television. He said that he agreed to join “The Trigonal” because the movie is related to martial arts.
The story of the said movie is about a retired martial arts champion that was forced to fight against an illegal syndicate.
Catch Monsour del Rosario never getting old in “The Trigonal” in cinemas starting September 26.
