The film is produced by ABS-CBN Films and Star Cinema, marking Kathryn and Daniel’s 9th film together. Both had ’24/7 in Love’ (2012), ‘Sisterakas’ (2012),‘Must Be… Love’ (2013), ‘Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay’ (2013), ‘She’s Dating the Gangster’ (2014), ‘Crazy Beautiful You’ (2015), ‘Barcelona: A Love Untold’ (2016) and ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ (2017).
Since we just can’t stop ourselves from talking about this film, we counted down 10 reasons why ‘The Hows Of Us’ is Yet the Best Kathniel Movie so far.
10. Kit Thompson and Darren Espanto.
Let’s take a moment and appreciate the rest of the cast first. Aside from KathNiel, we also loved the film’s supporting cast which included one of today’s hottest young actors, Kit Thompson. After his stint at the 4th season of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition, he entered local showbiz. He even starred in the 2014 Gino M. Santos indie ‘#Y’ with Elmo Magalona and Coleen Garcia and became part of the hit LizQuen series ‘Forevermore’.
Now, he is based in Los Angeles, California and works as a model under NTA models. The said film marked his return to the local showbiz scene, and everyone’s already falling for this hottie that looks like the epitome of high school varsity jock.
Darren Espanto made a big screen debut via this blockbuster film. He rose to fame after joining the first season of The Voice Kids Philippines, and now Espanto is already set to conquer the big screen as he joined the cast. He is Kathryn Bernardo’s brother who longed to see his father in Amsterdam.
9. The film’s amazing roster of talented actors.
The film also featured award-winning and veteran actresses like Jean Garcia, Susan Africa, and Ms. Odette Khan.
They are joined by today’s most promising talents like Alwyn Uytingco, Ria Atayde and Juan Miguel Severo.
8. Characters are Real and Relatable.
Bernardo is George while Padilla is Primo. The two lead characters are probably the most realistic and relatable characters that both actors have played on the silver screen.
Their characters are just like your everyday people. They’re flawed, making them believable enough for audiences to see themselves in their shoes.
7. Unforgettable and Quotable Quotes.
The film also boasts some of the best lines from a local film this year.
From funny quotes like “Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but presence puts the heart in danger” to hopeful ones like “What if we held on and rode the tide together? Makakarating kaya tayo kung nasaan tayo ngayon?”.
6. Has the Honest Portrayal of a Couple’s Relationship.
There is one line in the film that will really resonate with all the couples out there once they watch this film. “Ang forever, parang war. Mahaba, matagal, masakit, full of little battles.”
The film isn’t your typical Kathniel film as it featured the pair in a real-life situation that a lot of couples go through. The film doesn’t try to build a hopeless romantic’s fantasy. It was designed to be as truthful as it can be as honest as a couple in a relationship that is about to crumble.
5. Cathy Garcia-Molina’s Last Few Films Prior to Her Retirement.
After a successful career as a director, Cathy Garcia-Molina has already announced that she is indeed retiring from the business.
‘The Hows Of Us’ is one of Garcia-Molina’s final projects before she leaves the industry to prioritize her family. Therefore, this is one film that fans of should watch and cherish.
4. The First Movie of KathNiel after the Two Lovebirds revealed Their Real Status as a Couple!
This film is made even sweeter by Padilla’s official announcement that he and Bernardo has been in a relationship for five years now.
3. Daniel Padilla has already cemented His Status as one of the Best Actors of His Generation.
The film is one of Daniel Padilla‘s most challenging role as compared to his past films as the character of Primo demands a lot of emotion to show his struggles in life and his relationship with George. Daniel manages to bring out all the emotions required by his character with flying colors.
No wonder why Cathy Garcia-Molina refers to Daniel Padilla as her new John Lloyd Cruz.
2. Kathryn Bernardo has Never been this Fierce and Powerful.
Kathryn Bernardo’s George is probably the fiercest character she ever portrayed. From her looks to her manner of speaking, her character has shown boldness and was to bring life to the character with so much power. Plus, this is probably the first time I’ve heard Kathryn cursed more than once. She’s definitely leveling up to a whole new phase.
1. A More Mature KathNiel.
This is definitely the most mature KathNiel film to date.
I guess it’s already time for their pair to grow up by taking on mature and sensitive roles. With the young lovers admissal that they an item in real-life, there isn’t any inhibition, allowing them to move and act freely. This is very visible in the movie as you’ll get to see the two of them locking lips not just once, but many times over!
Indeed, ‘The Hows Of Us’ is the KathNiel film that all of us must not miss.
