- Ken Chan takes on a lead role in the new GMA Network show My Special Tatay.
- His new character will be a mentally-challenged father.
- Ken Chan hopes that this new character will put an end to gay rumors which came after he played a gay character in Destiny Rose.
Ken Chan stars in GMA Network’s afternoon drama series My Special Tatay where he plays a mentally-challenged father.
Ken admits that it is a very challenging role, and he responded to it by researching thoroughly about mentally-challenged people and physically interacting with them.
GMA believes that Ken Chan is the right actor for the difficult role as the network was impressed when he played a transgender in the series Destiny Rose.
Ken says that Destiny Rose qualifies as his biggest break to date. The end results: he was very effective in playing a transgender that soon, Ken’s true sexual orientation in real life was put into question. People started speculating that he must really be gay.
Ken Chan insists that he is not gay.
In previous interviews, he said, “I’m thinking na maghanap na nga ako ng gilfriend para matigil na sila, but I don’t want to do that just to satisfy my bashers.
“My last girlfriend was a non-showbiz girl at nag-break kami when I got so busy doing Destiny Rose and later, Meant to Be.
“Napabayaan ko kasi siya. Wala akong time. Puro work lang. So ayokong maulit ‘yun kasi right after The Cure, GMA said may isa pa akong assignment.”
That next project as it turned out is My Special Tatay. Ken promises to give his new role in the said series his best.
Ken hopes to be paired with StarStruck female recruit Arra San Agustin in his new series.
