American singer-songwriter Jeffree Star is planning to sue Pinay make-up guru Michelle Dy.
The famous Pinay Youtuber is currently facing a backlash after Star called her out for “stealing” his Youtube content and copyrighted title.
Star vent out on Michelle’s now deleted video saying;
“You’re full of shit. Stealing my “Approved” series and trademarked title is pathetic…but that’s what boring unoriginal people do. My lawyer will reach out to you shortly. “Jeffree Star Approved” is copyrighted in America,” he said.

He then went on to Instagram and shared a series of IG stories slamming Dy for copying his content.
“There’s a YouTuber who is not known in America but..they recently tried to steal my “approved” trademarked whole entire series and do it on their channel.”
Meanwhile, Dy who is a local makeup guru doing tutorials and product reviews for over 7 years now and has accumulated over 1 million Youtube subscribers has already apologized to Star for unwittingly using his trademarked title.
In her Twitter account, Dy said she’s acknowledging her mistake and would like to sincerely apologize to Star for whatever violation of his right she committed.
She also said that Star is one of her inspirations and that her intention for her MD Approved series was to make Star’s content in Philippine version.
“I believe that a mistake cannot be corrected with another mistake.And as the adage goes, “When you make a mistake, there are only three things to do about it, admit it, learn from it and don’t repeat it.” Dy wrote.
Redditors countered Star’s threat
However, some netizens are quick to point out Star’s wrongful rant.
In a Reddit conversation, several Redditors defend Dy against Star’s “baseless” accusations. They said, there could be no case against Dy because Jeffree Star Approved was not copyrighted by instead just a trademark that he use which doesn’t violate copyright laws.
Michelle then thanked her family and friends for the support and she promised to bounce back from the humps and create new contents.
