Jameson Blake recently received backlash for asking for free artwork from graphic artists who will only receive a shout out in return. He stayed away from social media after the hate messages he received on Twitter and Instagram. In a press conference for Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2018 entry, Ang Babaeng Allergic sa WiFi, he related how he recovered from the said issue.
On detaching himself from social media
Jameson noted how hate comments are normal in the industry.
“I’m okay now after what happened. It was just for a week. Normal naman yun sa industry, yung mga bashing. The only thing I can do is just keep silent and let it die out.”
According to him, Jameson detached himself from social media during the height of the said issue.
“Actually, ang ginawa ko, I deleted my social media for a week. So it’s kind of weird, kasi parang yung character ko for this movie, hindi siya nagso-social media. Na-affect din ako. The first few days, at least, medyo I was feeling down. Ayokong lumabas. Nasa condo lang ako.”
No intention to downgrade anyone
In July, Jameson tweeted that he needed a graphic artist to make an artwork for his social media accounts. Instead of monetary payment, the chosen artwork will receive a shout out from him. He apologized after he got bashed for it and said that he didn’t intend to hurt and downgrade graphic artists.
“I don’t have intention of downgrading anyone. I was just asking for a favor, so maybe they found it offensive. And siguro that’s just their perspective, that’s their opinion sa tweet ko. If they would just analyze clearly, wala naman akong bad intention sa tweet ko. Maybe they were just having a bad day or something.”
On bashing
Jameson noted that he is still a celebrity and will try to be aware of what he says.
“We’re still people. Just because artists kami or celebrities kami, public figure, yung mga ibang tao they have the right to bash us like that. Di dapat ganun. Actually, they should look at themselves muna before sila magsalita. It taught me a lesson kung paano i-handle ang ganung situation, since I had a taste of bashing ng ibang tao. Ngayon, I’ll just be aware of what will I say.”
