One of the most-talked about novels, Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan, is now a Hollywood film. Months ago, they held auditions for actors to be part of the all-Asian cast.
Kris Aquino was chosen to play the role of an Asian princess. However, she wasn’t the only Filipina who auditioned for the part. Heart Evangelista recently admitted that she too vied for the same role.
“I almost got the part actually,” she said during her interview for GMA Network.
Heart and author Kevin Kwan knew each other. In fact, it was Kevin who informed Heart that she almost got the role.
“I met him (Kwan) when he went to the Philippines for his promotion of the book. We got along. The next time, I remember, he wrote about my painted bags for the New York Times. Nagulat ako na naalala niya ako,” Heart shared.
When asked how she auditioned for the role and what she did during the audition, the actress replied, “I’m shy. But I made sure na in case na ma-leak ’yung audition tape ko, hindi nakakahiya. I hired a crew. Tineyp ko siya like a telenovela.”
