Darna director Erik Matti revealed that the movie has a scale larger than the usual. Liza Soberano is Darna and the film has already completed the cast. Although she had already shot a lot of scenes, Liza has yet to fly as Darna.

Direk Erik stressed that he still has to fix a few things before they shoot Liza’s flying scenes.
“Hindi pa namin siya napapalipad. Ang dami ko pang inaayos.”
Direk Erik commended Liza for pushing herself to meet the demands of her role. He pointed out that Liza still has to gain some muscles.
“Sobrang bigay todo siya sa shooting. Lahat ginagawa niya. Kailangan niyang mag-tone, magka-muscle kaya diretso yung naging training niya.”
Even if Liza is undergoing rigid training, Direk Erik doesn’t require her to get skinnier.
“Pero hindi naman siya nagpapapayat. Dahil sa training niya kaya lumiliit siya. Pero hindi siya nagpapapayat kasi payat naman siya.”
On Criticisms against Liza.
Matti slammed harsh criticisms against Soberano being Darna. But he knows that that is the way it’s going to be.
“Grabe naman sila. Ganyan talaga ang mangyayari diyan. Lahat ng tao may opinion hangga’t di pa nila nakikita yung pelikula.”
Direk Erik compared Liza’s Darna to Daniel Craig’s James Bond. He noted how people initially had misgivings about Craig being the new 007 agent. When the movie came out, haters started to love his portrayal.
“Si James Bond pinalitan ni Daniel Craig, ang sabi, ‘Ay ba’t hindi guwapo?’ Nung lumabas sa pelikula, umahon sa tubig na naka-trunks, wala na, nagustuhan na nila. Ganyan din kay Liza, lahat yan may opinion. Lahat yan magsasabi, ‘ay pangit, ay ganito, ay lampa,’ eh, opinion nila yon. Hintayin muna nila yung pelikula.”
