- Mike Enriquez is recovering from a kidney-related disease and preparing for a heart bypass surgery this September.
Atom Araullo made a grand entrance in GMA’s 24 Oras by appearing from one of the set’s TV frames. He will pinch-hit for Mike Enriquez who is currently on medical leave.
Mike Enriquez explained that he has to undergo treatment for a kidney-related disease and preparing for a heart bypass surgery this September.
“My doctors have told me that two to four weeks after my surgery, I will be able to return to my normal duties.
“In the meantime, it is best that I rest and avoid stress to avoid any medical emergency before my bypass,” Mike said.
While he is away, Arnold Clavio is his temporary replacement. But, from time to time, Ivan Mayrina will take the spot if Arnold cannot make. Now, Atom Araullo is part of the backup newscasters for Mike Enriquez.
Vicky Morales took the pleasure to introduce and welcome back Atom to GMA Network. Atom was a newscaster on GMA before he transferred to ABS-CBN. He was greatly noticed as a newscaster when he covered the “Yolanda” tragedy in Leyte.
24 Oras viewers and netizens alike hope to regularly see Atom on the show and that he fits well as a 24 Oras news anchor.
That said, some feel that 24 Oras feels different without Mike Enriquez in it.
Just like what Lolit Solis expressed on Instagram, “Laking bagay na wala si Mike, para bang kulang at hindi buo ang balita.”
Get well soon Mr. Mike Enriquez!
