- Suzette Doctolero reacted to an Esquire Magazine’s article on Victor Magtanggol.
- She pointed out that they didn’t have a proper research.
- She also wished that the writers would have asked for some details rather than depending on rumors and speculations.
Kapuso head writer Suzette Doctolero recently supported GMA executive and screenwriter Annette Gozon Valdes’ post calling out Esquire Magazine’s article on Victor Magtanggol.
In the said article, they compared the local superhero to the fictional character, Thor. Some comments also insinuate that GMA Network had stolen the character from Marvel.
However, Marvel doesn’t own Chris Hemsworth’s role as Thor as the character is originally from the Norse mythology. In the said mythology, Thor remains a hammer-wielding god of thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, in addition to hallowing, and fertility.
In the said Facebook post, Suzette pointed out that they didn’t have a proper research. She also wished that the writers would have asked for some details rather than depending on rumors and speculations.
“Nakakaloka dito sa article na ito, isinulat siya na walang research at halatang ignorante sa public domain (ay ang Marvel, adapted din from Norse Mytho ang kanilang version ng Thor). Sana man lang nagtanong sa Gma muna hahaha kesa nagsulat ng article na base sa haka haka at imahinasyon niya. Haha.”
Annette also noted that Thor already existed in Norse mythology. The adaptation of Thor can happen without copyright violations. Annette also wished that they should have waited for Victor Magtanggol to launch before they judged it. She also noted that Victor Magtanggol has inspirations from Norse mythology itself.
Although Victor Magtanggol does have Thor’s hammer called “Mjolnir.” The story will also detail how Victor Magtanggol would acquire “Mjolnir.”
