Star Magic is formally opening its doors to a different kind of talent through its first video-making contest- Lights, Camera, Magic (LCM). It is essentially the agency’s contribution to ABS-CBN’s exploration of the digital platform. It is also Star Magic’s way of acknowledging the growing audience online and on social media.
For 26 years, Star Magic paved the way for artists to explore and express their talents in performance arts. LCM provides a venue for aspiring storytellers to learn and collaborate with industry experts and Star Magic’s brightest stars.
Details & Mechanics
LCM will be open to amateur storytellers and digital content creators. This will be open for 18-years-old and above of any nationality from in and outside the country. Aspirants are required to submit a 2- to 3-minute narrative video with a synopsis which reveals their unique and strong stories with their creative and technical expertise. ABS-CBN will also shoulder the expenses and finances needed in the said competition.
Twenty (20) entries will be shortlisted by a screening team composed of: Piolo Pascual, Nash Aguas, Khalil Ramos, Janus del Prado, Ketchup Eusebio, Renee Dominique and Chairman Emeritus Johnny Manahan.
After this, three (3) finalists will be determined through online voting and a jury composed of Leo Katigbak, Head of ABS-CBN’ Special Projects and Film Restoration; Ronald Arguelles, Head of Channel Management; and Ice Idanan, independent film director. Also included in the jury are young and sought after directors such as JP Habac, Victor Villanueva, and Mikhail Red.
Aside from winning Php50, 000, the finalists will have the full experience of developing their submitted entries into a 15-minute short video for digital entertainment. They also get to be mentored by the said three young directors with Star Magic artists headlining their videos.
Interested participants may send their entries from July 29, Sunday until August 25, Saturday. The top 20 finalists would be named after the voting period which runs from September 7, Friday until September 19, Wednesday.
