Regine Velasquez, Jaya, Lani Misalucha, Ogie Alcasid, and Janno Gibbs used to perform together in GMA-7’s Sunday noontime show SOP that went off-air eight years ago.
“Back-to-Back-to-Back” was the show’s highly anticipated segment where the aforementioned singers battled it out on stage.
Apparently, most of these artists have already transferred to the rival station. Only two of them, Regine Velasquez and Lani Misalucha, are still in the Kapuso network.
Regine now hosts a new singing competition in GMA-7 called The Clash where Lani sits as part of the three-man jury. Fans of the old “Back-to-Back-to-Back” segment clamor for a reunion of its featured singers on one stage.
Regine Velasquez, when asked what she thought of this fan request, said in jest, “You’ll never know kasi iniwan na nila tayong lahat, nasa Channel 2 na sila, mga bastos sila.
“Lalo na ‘yung asawa ko (Ogie Alcasid), nuknukan ng bastos, in real life, huh.”
Oggie Alcasid is currently a judge in ABS-CBN’s Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids and Tawag ng Tanghalan alongside Jaya.
Janno Gibbs also appeared in several Kapamilya shows.
Lani expressed her views on this matter, “Ako rin, gusto ko rin naman na mangyari ‘yon, you know, with Janno, Jaya, Ogie, Regine, Cacai.
“Sana kung mangyayari ‘yon, hindi naman sana ‘yung matagal na matagal na bago mangyari. Ayaw ko namang mapanood ng mga tao na uugod-ugod na tayo bago mangyari ‘yun.”
Lani shared that the fondness among SOP singers has not wavered. They sometimes still meet up for mini-reunions of sorts. Some friendships are indeed forever.
