- Piolo Pascual admitted that he’s been thinking of quitting showbiz.
- He asked for ABS-CBN’s blessing to quit wasn’t allowed to.
- He went into a much-needed vacation to sort things out.
Piolo Pascual despite being very popular, the apple-to-the-eyes of women, and having back-to-back projects and endorsements didn’t stop him from retiring from showbiz.
The actor shared, “I wanted to quit before because burnt out, eh, sobrang pagod, wala ka nang oras sa sarili mo. I was turning 40 back then.”
He considered that time as a mid-life crisis.
“Iniisip mo kung ano ba ‘yung worth ng buhay mo and I was really going through something that time. Gusto ko lang malaman kung saan ako pupunta, you know. Mid-life ‘yun, eh. Talagang crossroads sa akin ‘yun. I thought I wanted to quit.”
That happened two years ago. When his contract with ABS-CBN was due to end, he asked for the network’s blessing to leave but he got the contrary.
“Hindi ako pinayagan, eh. Hindi ako pinayagan ni Lord, hindi ako pinayagan ng ABS-CBN. So, mahirap din ‘yun, I went through it for six months.
“It was so hard for me that’s why I went on a vacation for 3 months just to really see kung ano ang gusto kong gawin sa buhay ko, kung tapos na ba ako sa showbiz.
“And I realized na hindi pa naman siguro. It was humbling for me to accept the fact na hindi pa ako tapos sa ginagawa ko.
“So, now, hindi na siya (ang mag-quit) sumasagi sa isip ko but I feel more inclined towards doing something else, not just really focusing on acting but also producing and partnering with other, let’s say, ‘yung magagandang pwedeng maging content.
“With ABS-CBN kasi, they are more open now for parnetships in terms of content production and ‘yung mga gusto nating ilabas.
“So, mas malaki na ‘yung playing field natin and I’m able to explore more and do more with the given opportunities,” he shared.
Piolo Pascual has two ongoing projects with ABS-CBN namely ‘Since I Found You’ and ‘Home Sweetie Home’.
