‘Pinay Beauty (She’s No White)’, one of the official entries in this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, is set to spread non-stop joy, happiness, and good vibes starting on August 15-21.
The film features Edgar Allan Guzman and Chai Fonacier, Best Supporting Actress winner in the 2017 Film Academy of the Philippines Awards for ‘Patay Na Si Hesus’, and 2nd EDDYS’ Choice of the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) for ‘Respeto’.
Maxine Medina, beauty-queen-turned actress, will also share the big screen with them.
Both actors and the producers believe that ‘Pinay Beauty (She’s No White)’ is very relatable as it tells the story of a Filipina who does everything to achieve a certain level of beauty they desire. The movie also aims to send out a message to Filipinas to stop trying to look Western or Caucasian just to be accepted by the society.
Meanwhile, the film, which is jointly penned by Allan Habon and Rod Marmol, follows the story of Migs (Edgar Allan) who is in a fix on how to settle his Php180,000 debt from a loan shark, his Tito Val. The story will revolve around Migs incurring debt upon dept because of his deep love for his girlfriend, Annie, who has this dream of being flawlessly beautiful with big boobs and well-chiseled nose. Due to his debts, Tito Val gives him a mission he must accomplish in three days’ time. Migs and his will barkada get into different kinds of misadventures in their quest to help out Migs carry out his mission.
Of course, Guzman is no newbie when it comes to comic timing. He has proven his mark in this department vio previous assignments like the sex-comedy ‘Ligo Na U, Here Na Me’ and the Metro Manila filmfest movie ‘Dedma Walking’.
As such, he delivers an effortless performance in the Jay Abello movie, wherein he surprisingly shares strong screen chemistry with Fonacier in scenes that are sure to send the audiences roaring in laughter.
In the end, Migs realizes that the kind of love he has for his girlfriend of seven years goes beyond the realm of flawless white complexion, big boobs and even a perfect nose.
Moviegoers will get the chance to watch ‘Pinay Beauty (She’s No White)’ when it opens in theaters nationwide during FDCP-supported fest.
Also in the cast of the film are Janus del Prado, Nico Antonio, Hanna Ledesma and Mariko Ledesma with the special participation of Amable Tikot Aguiluz VI, Allan Paule, Lou Veloso, Joel Saracho and Richard Somes, among others.
