Ever since the movement began in 2005, Yabang Pinoy has pulled off various projects and campaigns that centered on Filipino creativity and ingenuity–from Global Pinoy Bazaar, Beyond the Road, Rated YP to Yabang Camp. These projects are mere reflections of what the organizers call the “Filipino Lifestyle”. This year, the movement will up its game of raising Pinoy Pride awareness through art and design, food, music and film festival called District 1308.
After the two-year conceptualization, District 1308 aims to be the avenue for Filipinos artists of all sorts— visual arts, crafts, designs, music, poetry and film— to gather, interact, and showcase what they’ve got. This is in partnership with Metro Park and Blue Bay Walk, a Federal Land Company, whose venue’s zip code is 1308. Apart from arts and design market, there will be food zone to cater to your gastronomic cravings. The movement will also bring back the competition in Todo Patintero, a genuinely Pinoy street game that calls for players in one epic battle.
In the evening, there will be series of performances from different spoken word artists, musicians and bands such as Adinkra Lumad Djembe, Hinlalato, Yan Abelardo, The Crates, Lunch Poems, Saranggola Productions, Key of G, Marc Paderon, Kerith, Kooky Tuason, Marty Tengco, Cecill Artates, Rachel Coates, Charms Tianzon, Dani Nakpil, Marlo Cabrera, Jedd Ong and John Berida. To cap the event will be an Outdoor Cinema that will feature some of the recent local films, in partnership with Black Maria Cinema.
All of these will happen on June 16-17, 2018 (Saturday and Sunday), 10am to 12mn, at Blue Bay Walk, EDSA corner Macapagal, Pasay City.
