The excitement for JoshLia’s big screen comeback is on!
Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto teams up once again in one of the most anticipated romance comedy films this year. After starring in the box-office hits “Vince and Kath and James” (2016), “Love You To The Stars and Back” and “Unexpectedly Yours” (2017), Joshua and Julia will be starring next in “I Love You Hater”. They will be joined by the one and only Queen of All Media, Ms. Kris Aquino. The romcom flick will be produced by Star Cinema and will be directed by Giselle Andres, the director of “Loving In Tandem” that featured the hit MayWard loveteam back in 2017. We got our first look at the film’s teaser during a screening of Star Cinema’s hit drama film “Kasal”, and we can’t help but feel the kilig already upon seeing Joshua and Julia together on screen.
Joshua and Julia will be playing Joko and Zoey, with both of them aiming to work for the high-powered media executive Sasha Imperial, which will be played by Ms. Kris Aquino. In one of the Instagram posts by the Queen of All Media, she revealed that her character, a former broadcast journalist who went on to build a media empire, has experienced a lot of tragedies in her life: losing her mother early, her father suffering from a serious illness, living alone in a mansion and experiencing the good life, yet feeling empty deep inside because she never had kids, and never got the ‘closure’ from her former husband.
But with the help of Joshua and Julia’s characters, she will finally get to heal herself of all the pain in her life. On the other hand, Joko and Zoey will be competing against each other to be Sasha’s executive assistant but will end up falling in love with each other in the process.
But all of us were caught off guard with the teaser’s biggest twist as Joshua Garcia’s character comes out as gay in the movie. From his chick and fabulous outfit to his ways and mannerisms, Joshua nailed his role as a gay man. “Isara ang bibig, bawal umibig!” says Joko to Zoey after she was stunned with his make-over.
Joshua has already played a gay role before in an episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” entitled “Puno” where he portrayed the role of Ernesto, a young gay man who fell in love and courted a woman named Jonna (Loisa Andalio). In the story, the two officially became a couple, but they got separated because he had to leave her in the province and go to the city. After two years, he returns but this time, he was already a transvestite named Barbie.
But is his character in “I Love You Hater” really gay, or he’s just pretending? If he’s really gay, how can he fall for Julia’s character in the movie? Will he have a change of heart (and preference) along the way? I guess we all have to look forward to the film to know the answers.
“I Love You Hater” will hit cinemas nationwide this July 11, 2018, from Star Cinema.
