- Senator Sherwin Gatchalian compared President Rodrigo Duterte’s kiss with OFW woman with married actors and actresses who demonstrated kissing and love scenes.
- Dingdong Dantes wrote a tweet that actors and actresses play a character.
- He also pointed out that people shouldn’t compare an actor and a public official using this argument.
Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian recently defended President Rodrigo Duterte’s controversial kissing issue. The senator compared President Rodrigo’s actions with married actors and actresses in kissing scenes.
Dingdong Dantes replied to Perci Cendana’s tweet asking people to explain how the kiss can be done in a professional way.
Perci wrote that he didn’t get how the kiss can be done in a professional way.
“Sir, sorry po. Hindi ko po talaga ma-gets. Paki-explain po, paano po yung kiss “done in a professional way”?”
Dingdong also asked who said the said statement.
“Sino nagsabi nun, Comm?”
Then, one netizen tagged Senator Win.
When Dingdong saw the video, he replied to Perci’s tweet again. He wrote that actors and actresses play a character. He also added that actors and actresses can avoid kissing and love scenes if it disagrees with their values.
Directors and scripts can’t really dictate an actor into doing said scenes.
“Ngayon ko lang nakita. Kaming mga artista ay gumaganap ng isang karakter. Minsan nga puwede kaming umayaw kung di namin trip dahil kani-kaniyang values at interpretation yan. Di porket sinabi ng direktor at script na talon ay tatalon ka na.”
Actors remain accountable to their viewers.
However, this argument remains invalid when it comes to public officials. People shouldn’t compare an actor and a public official using this argument.
“As actors, we are accountable to our viewers, our producers and the manner of delivering the story. Aba’y ibang usapan yan kapag public official ka. Kaya’t huwag dapat ihambing gamit ang ganiyang argumento.”
