The Vivo V9 is the latest addition to Vivo’s growing smartphone lineup and it embraces the fact that 2018 is the year of the notch. But especially, let’s find out how this phone differs from the competing brands.
DESIGN
The V9 is a 6.3” smartphone, although it has the same size of a regular 5.5” phone. Due to its narrow bezels, there is a significant increase in screen size. Thanks to the V9’s curved corner, it is very easy to hold or grip and can certainly be used one-handedly. It is only weighs 150 grams. It is light, but it is a well-built, solid phone.
The power button and the volume rockers are located at the right side, while the sim card slot is located at the left. The headphone jack is located at the bottom, together with the MicroUSB slot and its single speaker.
Dual-cameras with LED can be found at the back of the device, also with the fingerprint sensor near the Vivo logo. The V9 comes in Pearl Black and Gold.
DISPLAY
The V9 has a 6.3” IPS capacitive touch display with a 19:9 Full View display and a 90% screen-to-body ratio. The phone, even with a notch, is just a pleasure to look at especially when compared to other mobile devices. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels, which makes the images displayed to be very crisp, well-detailed and comfortable to the eyes.
The V9 also has no capacitive buttons below, but you can swipe up from the bottom to access the menu, back and recent apps.
PERFORMANCE AND BATTERY
The V9 is being run on Funtouch OS 4.0 and has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 Octa-core processor with 4GB of ram and 64GB of internal storage. Since it is running on Android 8.1, the V9 is definitely fast and gives you the best performance whenever you are just texting, calling, playing intensive games and doing social media stuff. Lag is certainly not an issue in this phone.
The V9 has a 3260 mAh non-removable battery and it is enough to survive for a day or two. The phone doesn’t overheat that much also during prolonged use.
CAMERA
If you are fond of selfies, you will really love this phone. The V9 has a 24MP front camera with an aperture of f/2.0, which means that you will have brighter and clearer selfies and low light shots will not be that much of a stress. You can also use the AI Face Beauty automatically enhances your selfies but not to the point that it looks very artificial.
It has the right balance to produce a well-made shot. You can also have fun using the front camera by using AR stickers to add cute effects to your selfies.
Let’s not forget about the dual-rear camera. It has a 16MP main +5MP secondary lens with an aperture of also f/2.0. The rear cam has AI HDR that makes the photos have a great range between shadows and highlights.
As a result, the photos are clear, highly detailed and has less noise. If you want portrait shots with blurred backgrounds, the secondary camera really helps to make that happen. You can also adjust the amount of blur in the photo during post-production.
