- The comedian advised that proper rest is as important as happiness
The Sarah Geronimo breakdown in Las Vegas concert did not just affect Sarah’s families and friends, it also triggered Vice Ganda to admit that he experienced the same depression.
Sarah Geronimo confessed that she feels empty despite the promising career. Fortunately, the singer-artist has already recovered from her depression since it only came out due to stress and lack of sleep.
Vice Ganda was deeply affected and can directly relate to Sarah’s dilemma. In one of his interviews, Vice Ganda admitted, “I actually experienced the same thing recently. I underwent depression.”
His depression seems to have gone worse that he went calling for professional help. The comedian expressed that he couldn’t sleep and was having anxiety attacks that made him perform less at work. He even entertains the idea to lay-low on showbiz.
“Nagpaalam nga ako sa management. Tinanong ko kung puwede bang hindi na ako mag-filmfest, puwede bang magbawas ako ng show,” he pleads guilty. “Ba’t ganun, andami kong pera, blockbuster mga pelikula ko, hit ang mga shows ko… ba’t hindi ako masaya?”
Fortunately, he went to the right person at the right time who gave him a sound advice. He confronted the showbiz couple Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid and they said one thing that hit him: “The mind is the playground of the devil.”
Vice explained that being an artist is not easy. Although it gives them a luxurious life, the responsibility is equally heavy. The advice from Regine and Ogie made him realize that he has a purpose, and the devil is pushing her away from that purpose.
“Feeling ko, ang devil, pinaglaruan yung utak ko para malungkot ako at hindi ako makapagpatawa. Para isipin kong pagod na ako at umayaw na ako, para isipin kong hindi ako blessed at hindi ako masaya, para malungkot ako,” he said.
Since then, the box-office star to be happy every waking day. “I embrace my happiness and my blessings, and I have to serve my purpose every day,” he added.
Vice Ganda also shared an advice that Sarah needs for the time being. He stated that rest is important. He also said to always choose happiness, because encouraging negative thoughts can make one feel empty.
