Vice Ganda is one of the most influential gay personality in the Philippines. He also uses his platform as a host in It’s Showtime to deliver his message on those people against same-sex relationships.
During the Tawag ng Tanghalan segment on May 1, Tuesday, Vice interviewed a contender Jennylyn David. She revealed that she has a female partner who deeply supports her.
Vice bantered with the couple and turned to the camera to express his views on the matter. He also added a heartfelt message towards people who express their disgust and gate on same-sex relationships.
He referred his fake flirting with close friend UST volleyball player Manuel Andrei Medina.
So, nagharutan kami.
Vice also shared many netizens’ reaction to the said fake flirting incident. He questioned where the hate on the LGBT community came from. He also asked whether other people’s relationships affect their lives.
Vice continued to slam people who strip two consenting adults on being together. He also compared homosexual to heterosexual relationships. Both connections never affected anybody’s lives outside of their relationships.
“Naghihirap ba kayo ‘pag may lalaki at baklang naging mag-jowa? O babae at lalaking nagmahalan? Nakakaapekto ba ito sa mga buhay ninyo? Diba, hindi naman? Saan nanggagaling ang hate? Diba? Why don’t we just allow everyone to be happy? Diba, kung gusto niyo maging happy, be happy. Kung gusto naming maging happy, be happy.”
Vice also shared his dismay with people shaming him on flirting or being in a relationship with another guy. He makes people happy but some of these people don’t want him to. He pleaded to let them be and they would never intend on affecting others in a negative way. He also turned to Jennylyn and expressed his support for her relationship.
Everyone deserves to be happy. And that includes me. Kasi di naman namin kayo inaapektuhan in a very negative way. Kaya ako, I support you.”
