Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu wanted to investigate Diego Loyzaga’s photos taken in Boracay and posted on Instagram. The son of Tourism Promotions Board chief operating officer Cesar Montano also posed for photos with two other friends in Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa.
A netizen left a comment, reminding Diego that the Boracay island remained closed to tourists. Diego replied that they are “locals.” After several negative comments on the post, Diego revealed that they had taken the photo months ago.
Diego also shared that he only posted the photo to show appreciation to his two friends. He never meant to disrespect Boracay and its residents. He also revealed that they have land there and have lots of friends who own businesses on the island.
“These photos were taken months ago. I only posted to show appreciation to my two friends who are in the photo with me… I meant no disrespect to Boracay, the people living there and its current state I know whats going on there. We have land there. We have lots of friends who are owners of businesses etc in Boracay.”
