Paulo Avelino will star in a historical film, Goyo. He will play the character of Gregorio del Pilar, the youngest general to dive into the Philippine-American war in 1890’s.
This will also be TBA Studios’ follow-up film for Heneral Luna which John Arcilla top-billed in 2015. Goyo will be available in theaters nationwide on September 5, Wednesday.
Paulo waited for three years for the movie to finally come out. In an interview with PEP.ph, he also expressed his excitement on people seeing the said film.
“Of course, I’m very excited for it to come out, for people to see it.”
Paulo revealed that they had released another teaser. He also added that they finished shooting in 2017.
“What came out was the teaser two, so it’s not yet the full trailer. I’m very excited because we’ve been working on this project for almost three years. At ito na nga, we finished shooting last year and now, ginagawa lahat para matapos yung post. I’m just excited that it’s almost done and people are gonna have a chance to see this film.”
Paulo shared that if Teaser 2 is observed, it is from the people’s perspective on Gregorio. He admitted that he had learned a lot of lessons from his character.
“I think sa teaser 2, if you notice, it’s more about the perspective of the people around Goyo… Ang dami e, ang dami talaga na minsan sobrang contradicting na yung ibang binabasa ko. I definitely learned more not just about Goyo…”
However, Paulo also thought that the young general may be a lady’s man. He explained that there was actual proof of written letters to multiple girls.
“There are actually proof ng mga written letters ni Goyo to multiple girls and also letters for him by different women asking… na parang yung iba nagseselos. Up to what kind of babaero extent, I wouldn’t know but he’s definitely, kumbaga celebrity siya in a way.”
