- “Darna” movie starring Liza Soberano is rumored to join this year’s MMFF
- Erik Matti has doubts if they can finish the movie before the “MMFF” deadline of submission
- The director believes that the “Darna” storyline can compete with the “Avengers” movie
Movie producers are having second thoughts if they will submit their work to compete for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. It is because rumors suggest that Liza Soberano’s “Darna” is also a potential entry for the festival.
This remake of the original Pinoy superhero has been long anticipated and well-prepared with a rumored budget of 200 million!
However, the director Erik Matti’s statements contradict these rumors. Other than disclosing the real budget of “Darna,” he also said that the shooting is far from done.
He admitted that they already started filming, but it was delayed because they have to abide by Liza’s schedule knowing the fact that the young actress still has an on-going primetime series ‘Bagani.”
Erik Matti also said that Liza, as well as the other casts, are still under training to show promising action scenes. “Ang dami pa kasi talagang preparations eh. Ang set na itatayo, the costumes, ang dami. We probably shoot later this year,” the director said.
Talking about the script, Erik Matti is confident that the storyline is enough to compete with the Hollywood movie “Avengers.”
The deadline for submission for the Metro Manila Film Festival is on September 21, 2018. Sadly, based on the director’s words, it’s not possible for the movie to reach the deadline.
