- COMELEC forbids the use of cellphones inside polling precincts.
Kris Aquino recently posted a video of her voting for the barangay elections. In the said video, she took a photo with poll watchers and teachers inside the precinct. On April 9, 2016, Commission on Elections (COMELEC) banned the use of cellphones in polling precincts on any election day.
Many criticized the said video which goes against a rule which COMELEC implemented. Kris also only wanted to let her followers know that she had already voted. She wrote in the caption:
“🇵🇭 Bumoto na ko- have you? And nagbaon ako ng #lovelovelove ♥♥♥”
Former COMELEC commissioner Chairman Andres Bautista forbids the use of cell phones. During a news conference, Andres also forbids taking photos, sending and/or receiving of texts and calls.
“They cannot use it. And when we say ‘use,’ we don’t just mean taking pictures. You also cannot send text messages and call.”
The said chairman also explained that photos taken through cellphones may insinuate a form of vote-buying. He also added that politicians can use texting or call as other means of cheating.
