- He continued that it’s okay for artists to cancel their shows if they can’t take the exhaustion anymore.
A celebrity always has a busy schedule and hectic environment. Unfortunately, it took a toll on Popstar Royalty, Sarah Geronimo. She broke down in the middle of her This 15 Me concert in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jake Zyrus, then, defended and sympathized with Sarah.
However, he doesn’t want to express his opinions on the matter as he does not know what the Popstar Royalty felt at the time. Although Jake offers understanding as he can relate to being emotional after experiencing intense exhaustion.
During a press conference for his 26th birthday and the 10th anniversary of his Music and Me concert, Jake shared that he had watched the said video.
“Mahirap yung [magbigay ng opinyon] kasi hindi ko alam ang pinagdadaanan niya. Napanood ko po yung video, pero ang maio-offer ko lang ay understanding.”
Jake also shared that he relates to Sarah’s exhaustion. However, he has yet to experience a walk-out.
“I’ve been there, yung talagang emotionally and physically pagod ka talaga, mahirap talaga. Hindi pa naman po ako naka-experience na mag-walkout.”
Jake continued that Sarah may have felt too exhausted which caused her to break down and walk out. However, he felt like Sarah didn’t intend to walk out.
“Pero ako, sa totoo lang, for example kung talagang alam kong physically and emotionally hindi ko kaya, knowing myself, maaari siyang mangyari. But not intentionally mong gagawin yun. Mangyayari lang yun kung talagang puno na. Kumbaga, you know to yourself na puno na, exhausted ka na.
Jake also compared Sarah to huge stars like Celine Dion and Mariah Carey who sometimes cancel their own shows due to intense exhaustion. Fans needed to understand and support Sarah in situations like these. He also continued that a singer strains their voice due to tiredness. It’s okay for artists to cancel their shows if they can’t take it anymore, explains Jake.
“Minsan, di ba, like sina Celine Dion, Mariah Carey… sometimes they cancel shows kapag hindi nila kaya…
Jake also pointed out that at that moment, the artist wouldn’t think of canceling. However, it’s normal to prove something.
“I’m sure someday, yung moment na yun, halimbawa, hindi mo maisip na mag-cancel ka or anything, you’re trying to prove something, darating din sa point na ‘yon na normal siya. Normal lang po yun.”
