Before transitioning into Jake Zyrus, Charice Pempengco sang a duet with tons of iconic singers. In a recent blog conference for his Music & Me concert, he announced that his duet with Jessica Sanchez will push through.
However, Jake has yet to confirm whether he will sing a duet with Celine Dion. In 2008, Charice performed a duet in September 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
In the said blog conference, Jake chuckled before answering whether he will have an opportunity to perform a duet with Celine. it would be an honor if he ever got the chance to have a duet with Celine. However, when he thinks of performing with Celine, he would always think about little kids who would want to perform with their idols. He would want to share that experience with others.
“‘Di ko po alam. Pero matutuloy duet namin ni Jessica, kami po ni Jessica. Well, if ever kung matuloy… dalawang ano lang naman po ‘yun sa akin, eh. Kung halimbawa kami pong dalawa ay may (duet), siyempre naman po it’d be an honor. Again, para sa akin. Pero, at the same time, ‘pag naiisip ko ‘yun… Ang dami kong nakikita na mga young new belters out there na sobrang nakikita ko ‘yung bright future nila. Eh minsan, iniimagine ko na kung anong naramdaman ko noon, when I was that kid, that little girl with the long hair, na to be on the same stage with Miss Celine Dion, of course gusto kong mai-share ‘yung feeling na ‘yun na isa sa mga bata na maka-duet yung iniidolo nila.”
He will remain grateful when Celine chooses him for a duet. Although he would be grateful, he wished that there are others who can experience a duet with Celine. He also remarked how genuine his heart remains to be. He called it his biggest wish that little kids could experience the dream that he did.
“Kung ako ulit mapili, then, siyempre naman, sobra namang I’d be grateful… Pero, sa akin, naiisip ko na rin na hopefully, mabigyan din yung iba ng chance na maka-duet siya. Kasi iba ‘yung feeling, gusto kong i-share ‘yung feeling na ‘yun… Hindi lang dahil sa magaling siya na singer, gusto ko ma-experience nila ‘yung kabaitan niya bilang isang tao… Para sa akin (if) pilii niya ako, thank you. Pero… biggest wish ko is mabigyan ng chance yung isang bata na ‘yun, little boy, little girl na ma-experience ‘yung dream na ma-experience ko nung mga time na ‘yun.”
