Shangri-La Plaza proudly celebrates Pinoy cultural heritage this Philippine independence month of June as the country’s foremost musical and dance artists perform for mall guests of all ages.
Bamboo orchestra Banda Kawayan kicks off the celebrations on June 2, 7 PM at the Grand Atrium, and the JNA Dance & Fitness Center showcases their grace and energy on June 3, 7 PM, at the Grand Atrium.
On June 9, catch a special performance by award-winning artist Jed Madela, the first Filipino to win at the World Championships of Performing Arts. Be at the Grand Atrium at 7 PM to hear this soulful balladeer sing his greatest hits.
Know more about the beginnings of Philippine music and dance as the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group takes center stage on June 10, 7 PM at the Grand Atrium. Founded in 1972, this dance company is the leading advocate for presenting Philippine dance closest to its original form and continues to champion the rituals of more than 50 ethnolinguistic groups through their craft.
Celebrate Independence Day at the Shang with the internationally acclaimed Mandaluyong Children’s Choir and a rondalla ensemble, which uses instruments like the bandurria, laud, octavina, guitar, and double bass to bring a unique spin on Filipino folk classics and contemporary tunes. Don’t miss their performance on June 12 at the Grand Atrium.
Enjoy classic OPM as renowned musician Nonoy Zuñiga and the internationally acclaimed AMP Band rhythm section with musical director Mel Villena perform beloved Filipino songs on June 17, 7 PM at the East Atrium.
Finally, rising indie-folk band Ben & Ben cap the month on June 24, 7 PM with their chart-topping songs that feature a unique fusion of pop and folk at the Grand Atrium.
