Meteor Garden 2018 will soon air. The Chinese version of the well-loved series also stars Dylan Wang as Dao Ming Si, Darren Chen as Hua Ze Lei, Connor Leong as Feng Mei Zuo, Caesar Wu as Xi Men Yan and Shen Yue as Dong Shancai. Meteor Garden was based on a Japanese Manga comic series, Boys Over Flowers which Yoko Kamio wrote.
Taiwan became the first country to televise the said series, Meteor Garden in 2001. It also had a sequel, Meteor Garden II. This also stars Barbie Shu, Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu and Vaness Wu.
Japan came next and televised Hana Yori Dango in 2005. It also had a sequel Hana Yori Dango Returns. This stars Mao Inoue, Jun Matsumoto, Shun Oguri, Shota Matsuda and Tsuyoshi Abe.
South Korea also made their own version with Boys Over Flowers in 2009. This also stars Ku Hye-sun, Lee Min-ho, Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Bum and Kim Joon.
The story usually revolves around a poor teenage girl who goes to a university for rich people due to her parents’ insistence. Four rich and handsome but arrogant students dominate the university. The said four students remain collectively known as F4, short for Flower 4. They are heirs to four rich and influential families in the country. F4 also terrorizes the university, handing out red cards to those they do not like. This red card allowed other students to bully the victims until they drop out or leave the school. The poor girl receives a red card, gaining the wrath of F4’s leader. However, she stands up for what is right, gains the group’s respect.
Fans who watched all versions of the said series expressed their excitement on the new one. One fan also noted that the new F4 will be their cause of death.
