The barangay or local election is getting close, and candidates are now pouring their hearts outs to make the most of the remaining days of the campaign.
The common materials used by today’s politicians to get votes is through posters, flyers, and songs. While posters remain to introduce one’s self to the major public, a popular song edited for campaign purposes work well in capturing the Filipino voters’ attention.
However, most of these politicians don’t mind copyright issues.
Ex Battalion’s “Hayaan Mo Sila” song is one of the most used songs this year. A concerned citizen recently reached out to Aiai Delas Alas, who is the manager of Ex Battalion, that these politicians used the song without asking their permission.
The actress immediately posted on Instagram to call the attention of these politicians saying, “We request, in the spirit of integrity and fair play, the concerned individuals to cease and desist from such unauthorized use of the song and its melody.”
Other popular and ear-friendly songs like “Pamela One” and “Otso Otso” are usually heard every election period. The people who used these songs without authorization will be facing copyright issues.
