Philippines cinema’s 80s hottest loveteam—Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion trended recently because of their reunion via a McDonald’s TVC, which delighted their fans; however, it seemed short-lived when both stars opted to unfollow each other on Instagram just recently.
The ‘unfollowing’ created abuzz on social media.
It can be remembered that there were negotiations of having a reunion flick for the two stars and parents of KC Concepcion, their only child after getting married in 1984 and eventually went on their separate ways in 1987 (like any other celebrity married couples).
The McDonald’s TVC which reunited the erstwhile husband-and-wife earned four million via the fast-food chain’s Facebook page. Thus, the idea of having a reunion movie for the two was floated, but something happened along the way, which might abort the said project. One proof is the post that the Megastar had on April 1 (April Fool’s Day).
Cuneta’s post said, “You will never know how much pain losing what I thought would be a lasting friendship this time has caused me. “How can only all good intentions go wrong? I guess that’s life. And because I trust God, I know that I will understand in time.”
Though in her post, she didn’t mention Concepcion’s name, but it read: “I never wanted to hurt anyone. I also certainly didn’t expect to be humiliated and hurt. I just wanted a forever friend to keep for our beautiful child, and a beautiful movie. Minsan ayaw ng tadhana. Again, my trust is in the Lord. Sorry again, and here is to the magic of new beginnings! Thank You, Jesus, for Easter. And always, a new day. I love you all. Goodnight. God bless us.”
