- Sandra Raymundo Lemonon, Binibini 35 got stunt with the question about the governments ‘Build, Build, Build program’.
- Despite being honest, no answer-no crown and title
- Tried to give her answer to the question she failed to make a good impression
One of the controversial and perhaps the early favorites among the hopefuls in the recently concluded Binibining Pilipinas 2018, candidate 35 Sandra Raymundo Lemonon didn’t escape criticisms and even bashing online after she failed to answer the ‘unfair’ question (to some) regarding the current government’s program—‘Build, Build, Build’.
Lemonon even tried to justify why she wasn’t able to answer the question, “We took our time to study. It’s not easy at all, to be put there on the spot. I was just in shock when I heard my question, because talaga… I was expecting divorce, abortion, women’s rights, violence, Marawi, Dengvaxia. I was ready for these questions! And when I had my question, I was just stumped,”
She also added that what she heard was not ‘Build, Build, Build’, but rather ‘Bill, Bill, Bill’.
It can be remembered that another controversial beauty queen, the former Binibining Pilipinas-International 2017—Mariel de Leon previously favored Lemonon over Catriona Gray, the newly crowned Miss Universe-Philippines. “I like a good underdog. Ayoko yung pinaka-popular… I like the dark horse, I think, as they say. I like Sandra Lemonon, Candidate No. 35 yata.”
However, the ‘underdog’ became literal as Sandra humbly accepted her shortcomings that led to her defeat for failing to answer the question thrown to her during the Top 15 Q and A portion.
Both de Leon and Lemonon were unplaced in their respective competitions—the former in the 2017 Miss International and the latter in the prestigious local pageant.
But after the pageant, when she had the chance to Google what the program is all about; the former Fourth Princess in the 2016 Miss World-Philippines (where Catriona also won the title ‘Miss World-Philippines back then), she attempted to give her thoughts about the question, “Of course! Yes, I’m pro building infrastructure. Who isn’t? It’s about time! How are going to get our economy better without this? It’s about time!
“Of course there’s no answer for ‘no,’ there’s only ‘yes’. You have to say ‘yes’ to this.”
As of this writing, she is not giving up on not getting a crown. She promised to compete again as she posted on her Twitter account on March 19 that read: “Lemonades, I am coming back.”
What do you think of her answer? Was it impressive or still has to study more to really secure a spot when she gets to compete again in Binibining Pilipinas 2019?
