- Nora Aunor may have received an offer to portray Joanna Demafelis.
- Found dead in a freezer, Joanna died due to a severe beating.
- Nora previously portrayed Flor Contemplacion, an OFW wrongly accused of murder and was executed.
Nora Aunor recently received an offer for a film based on the life of the Filipino worker, Joanna Demafelis. The said overseas Filipino worker was found mutilated in a freezer in Kuwait. Joanna died due to a severe beating at the hands of her employers, a Libyan man, Nader Essam Assaf and his Syrian wife, Mona.
However, Kuwaiti government is still trying to locate the couple until now.
The discovery of Joanna’s body caused the Philippine government to temporarily ban the deployment of new workers to Kuwait. Before the said ban, the deployment was suspended because of the reports of abuses on Filipino workers.
The said film will be as big as Nora’s portrayal in The Flor Contemplacion Story. The Singaporean government hanged Flor without a proper trial. Flor became wrongly accused of killing her fellow Filipina domestic helper and the young boy she cared for. Executed in 1995, Flor had a huge impact which led to a national appeal for clemency and re-investigation to happen.
