She did it once, she did it twice, even thrice, and done it again with equally improved presence! Katy Perry never failed to wow her loyal Filipino fans each time she visits the country.
The Asian Leg of her current concert tour “WITNESS” brought her back in the Philippines for a spectacular night only to her awesome supporters and listeners.
Produced by AEG Presents and Ovation Productions, Katy Perry rocked the stage of the Mall Of Asia Arena on April 2. Besides Manila, WITNESS: The Tour Asia leg also includes Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok and Jakarta. With Witness, Katy finds liberation, in the changes in her own life and in the world around her, delivering songs that inspire both thought and movement. The singles released thus far – the Platinum-certified “Chained to the Rhythm” featuring Skip Marley, and the singles, “Bon Appétit” featuring Migos and “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj – hint at the breadth of the musical and thematic elements found on Witness.
As early as 5:00 p.m., people are already lining up outside the MOA Arena in their favorite Katy-inspired #ootds to flaunt during the concert. The “KatyCats,” the designated fan group of the singer, brought props such as lighting sticks and LED cat ear headbands to make the night look more alive!
And yes it worked.
Katy sang four sets that include her most iconic hits. Name it, from Teenage Dream up to Swish Swish Bish! Everyone was either jumping up and down singing along or waving their flashlights in amazement. She still has it, Katy’s talent is impeccable to this date.
It was described that WITNESS: the Tour is an imaginative trip from outer-space to inner-space, from the planets to the bottom of our oceans, and a musical journey through Katy Perry’s biggest milestones and mega-hits right up to her latest album. The dramatically original staging means that there isn’t a bad seat in the house, when Katy brings out her band and dancers, along with all the bells and whistles.
The last part totally ended the night with a BANG! Like, literally. My personal favorite, Fireworks, played and all of a sudden, there were REAL fireworks on stage behind Katy! It was a magical sight! We’ve never seen anything like it and it just made the whole experience the most surreal.
I don’t think anyone in that arena would ever forget what they felt. Kudos, Katy! We will all await your fifth time here.
