Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla will have a reunion movie with Cathy Garcia-Molina. The blockbuster trio also held a story conference for the film, The Hows of Us. This movie will also be Star Cinema’s 25th-year-anniversary presentation for its loyal audience.
Direk Cathy revealed that they will have the movie under managing director Olivia Lamasan. She continued to express her happiness on being back with Kathryn and Daniel. They will experiment more on their characters.
“We’re so excited dahil 25th year presentation ito of Star Cinema under our new Managing Director Olivia Lamasan… I am so happy that I’m back with KathNiel. Alam naman ng lahat kung gaano ko kamahal itong dalawang ‘to. We’ll be trying on new characters. Experimento.”
Direk Cathy sustained that she had already told Kathryn and Daniel about their experimentation. She also asked the couple to give her suggestions on their characters.
“Nasasabihan ko naman ‘tong dalawang ‘to ng isip kayo ng bago, experimento naman tayo, and mababait naman sila. Nag-iisip naman sila and nagko-contribute. Ngayon may assignment sila sa’kin. So sabi ko patingin ng mga suggestions niyo, mga itsura nila.”
Kathryn expressed her and Daniel’s excitement on working with Direk Cathy.
“Tagal namin inantay ‘to kaya super saya namin ni DJ. ‘Yung last namin with Direk nabitin talaga kami.’Yung sa pilot ng ‘La Luna Sangre’ and finally pang-second movie namin ‘to with Direk Cathy, exciting project.”
Daniel echoed Kathniel’s statement.
“Iba ‘to sa lahat ng ginawa namin ni Kathryn.”
Kathryn relayed the story of the upcoming movie, The Hows of Us.
“Basically, we’re doing a light romance. The title is the ‘Hows Of Us.’ It’s about dalawang tao, couple, in a long-term relationship and ‘yung gusto namin na tanong is ano ba ang reason natin bakit tayo nagse-stay sa isang relationship? Hindi lang sa relationship kasi ‘di ba minsan matagal ka na sa trabahong ‘yun, ba’t ka magse-stay ‘di ba?”
Daniel continued that the story of their characters reflects his relationship with Kathryn who is in a long-term relationship. He continued that they also ask the question from the movie’s reason. Daniel remarked that the movie will teach people like him and Kathryn on those reasons.
“Malapit sa amin mismo ni Kathryn ‘yung storya… Parang nasa long-term relationship rin naman na kami ni Kathryn. So kami rin mismo nagtatanong rin kami kung ano ba talaga ang rason. Hindi lang naman kami ‘yun. I think sa lahat talaga merong struggle, hindi naman lagi masaya. And etong movie na ‘to ay tuturuan tayo, pati rin kami ni Kathryn, kung ano nga ba ‘yung mga dahilan na ‘yon.”
Daniel revealed that he and Kathryn actually pitched the movie before. He shared that it will show whether or not it would be worth it to fight for your love.
“Bago pa namin ito i-pitch, pinag-uusapan na namin ‘to ni Kathryn. ‘Yung mga ganitong scenarios sa ibang tao, sa ibang relationships. Meron kasi tayong seven-year itch ‘di ba? Maganda ‘to para sa mga tao dahil sabi nga nila ang mga millennial ngayon mabilis na bumitaw, gumawa ng decision na itigil na, tapusin na. Parang hindi na ba worth na ipaglaban pa.”
Direk Cathy also gave a teaser for the viewers on what they should expect when watching the film. She continued that many fans already wished that Kathryn and Daniel star in a more mature role. She also continued that everyone has a different definition of mature.
“Every actor, every director, and every viewer would always want to see something different. Maraming humihiling na sana mas mature naman pero depende kasi ‘yun kung paano natin ide-define. Ano ba ang maturity sa paningin nila, sa paningin ng dalawang ‘to, at sa paningin ko. Magkasubukan nalang tayo.”
Direk Cathy, then, continued that people have a different interpretation. Everybody is working together for the movie.
“Iba-iba kasi tayo ng interpretation lagi. All I can say is, we are working together, the creative and the cast, and everyone else to give you something new, especially for the two, you’ve never seen before but not necessarily something you’ve never experienced before dahil in fact, ang kwento namin ngayon ay ‘yung nae-experience ng lahat.”
