Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III recently announced Jiggy Manicad as a prospective senatorial candidate under PDP-Laban party. Days after the said announcement, Jiggy also announced his exit from his news program.
Jiggy declared that he will be leaving Philippine media to go forward to have the next level of public service.
In Jiggy’s 23 years as a journalist, he also believed that he had already to render public service. However, he hoped that his supporters will still stay with him as he try to join the next level of public service.
“Sa 23 years ko pong pagiging journalist, naniniwala po akong kahit papaano ay nakapaghatid ako sa inyo ng public service at nawa po samahan ninyo ako sa pagsubok kong pumasok sa ibang lebel ng serbisyo publiko.”
Jiggy expressed his gratitude to the public and bid farewell to his shows on GMA Network. He also used to have Quick Response Team and 24 Oras Weekend. He, then, expressed his gratitude for the trust, integrity and credibility he earned as a journalist.
