- Miss Q&A contestants shared their thoughts about having a separate CR in “It’s Showtime”
- Odessa Jones, the winner of Miss Q&A Monday, believes that respect and equality is more important.
- Vice Ganda thinks that having a third restroom is the community’s least concern
After Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental crown Karen Gallman answered that she agrees to provide a third restroom for the LGBTQ community, “It’s Showtime” asked the same question to the members of the LGBTQ community themselves during the Miss Q&A Segment.
Karen Gallman’s official answer during the Bb. Pilipinas 2018 was, “I definitely agree that there should be a third restroom for transgenders because as women, we would also want our privacy, and also with men. We have a separate room for the transgenders. It just serves as equality, privatization. Thank you.”
LGBTQ Community answers the question
Vice Ganda, known as an activist and defender of the LGBTQ community, read the question “Sa iyong palagay, dapat bang may hiwalay na CR para sa LGBTQ members?” during the final round of Miss Q&A Monday. Challenger Precious Amugong and reigning winner Odessa Jones have different perspectives on the question.
Amugong answered that a separate restroom for LGBTQ community is to promote privacy and judgmental behavior from males and females.
Jones, on the other hand, expressed that there is no need to have a third restroom since there are only two known genders: male and female. What the LGBTQ community really need is respect and equal treatment. This answer led to Jones successfully defending his crown and earned his ticket to the Miss Q&A finals.
Vice Ganda also shared his own answer to the audience. For Vice, before arguing if a separate CR should be provided for the LGBTQ community, it is more important for people to be educated in what LGBTQ really stands for.
“If we understand each other and we are more compassionate, hindi isyu ang CR. Walang mababastos kung nagkaka-unawaan tayong lahat. Transwomen are women, transmen are men,” says Vice.
