- Tale of the Lost Boys wins Best Picture at Sinag Maynila Film Festival 2018
- Sinag Maynila Box Office Award, Jury Prize for Documentary, and SM People’s Choice Award are the special awards given this season
Sinag Maynila Film Festival recognized all the participants this season and the award-winning entries of the creative minds behind this year’s reel masterpieces at the Gabi ng Parangal. In the festival’s 4th season, the jurors were the President of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Arsenio Lizaso, National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Commissioner Teddy Co, renowned director and Sinag Maynila (Year 1) winner of Best Picture for Imbisibol and Best Director Lawrence Fajardo, Korea and South East Asia representative of UniFrance Jeremy Segay, and Festival Director of Tokyo International Film Festival Takeo Hisamatsu.
First to be awarded was the Short Film and Documentary categories won by Odin Fernandez for The Duwende and by Janine Santos for Mahal, 2017, respectively.
This year, Sinag Maynila gave a special citation to one documentary film for its “rare depiction of the innate goodness in people, which comes by less frequently at a time when the world is becoming more jaded and cynical.”
The Jury Prize for Documentary Film was awarded to Albert Almendralejo and Maricel Cariaga‘s Journeyman Finds Home: The Simone Rota Story.
More special awards were also given at the Gabi ng Parangal for the film with the highest tickets sales and vote from the viewers. Here are the winners:
