Recently, fans were upset after an article published by entertainment editor Ricky Lo claimed that the Liza Soberano film “Darna” will no longer push through.
However, ABS-CBN film arm Star Cinema released a statement denying the said rumors.
“The news article that came out in The Philippine Star today that the Darna movie has been shelved is not true,” Star Cinema advertising and promotions manager Mico del Rosario said.
In addition, it was announced that the whole production is now in full swing. “Production is in full swing. Thank you,” he added.
Rumors started to spread like that “Darna” is shelved when Kapamilya fantaserye “Bagani” began airing. Some assumed that the 20-year old actress caused the cancellation of the film due to her busy schedule with the said TV series.
Since the after the announcement that she is the new Darna, Liza has been undergoing intensive physical training and acting and dialogue workshops as preparation for the movie.

Liza will be the 10th actress who plays the iconic role in movie and television. Actresses Gina Pareño, Lorna Tolentino, Vilma Santos, Sharon Cuneta, Anjanette Abayari, Nanette Medved, Regine Velasquez, Angel Locsin at Marian Rivera were the lucky women who accepted the challenging role.
