- Public school teachers and parents participate in nutrition education seminar
SKY and Knowledge Channel continue their advocacy to help uplift the lives of public school children around the country through a partnership with Nestlé for “NutriTALK,” a two-part series of talks that aims to educate parents and teachers on proper nutrition.
Close to 100 parents and teachers from SKY partner schools attended a talk on proper nutrition conducted by a Registered nutritionist dietician affiliated with Nestlé on March 20 at Paltok Elementary School in Quezon City, and on March 23 at Estanislao Villanueva Elementary School in Imus, Cavite.
The attendees also participated in a disaster preparedness seminar led by the SKY Emergency Response Team (ERT) in line with Fire Prevention Month. They were informed of the latest fire prevention measures together with preparedness tips during natural calamities and other personal medical emergencies.
Nestlé, through various programs, conducts nutrition education sessions to millions of Filipinos across the Philippines in line with Nestlé’s purpose to enhance the quality of life and contribute to a healthier future. According to Misha Rabat, Corporate Affairs Executive at Nestlé, the nutrition education sessions aim to advocate good health by educating more people about proper nutrition. “Good nutrition cannot happen overnight. It is a daily decision we have to make. We cannot make these decisions though if we do not know anything about nutrition. At Nestlé, we believe that the start to being healthy is knowing how to live a healthy life,” said Rabat.
SKY continues to support Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI) in its mission to uplift the lives of public school children by providing their stakeholders with rich learning and informative content. “By engaging parents and teachers through these talks on proper nutrition, we hope to help improve students’ overall development,” said Antonio Ventosa, President and COO of SKY.
In 2017, SKY and KCFI teamed up formally to give students all over the country access to Knowledge Channel’s multimedia educational materials created with the Department of Education. Over the years, SKY has provided more than 1,000 schools with access to Knowledge Channel and its learning materials.
Following its service donations in 2017, its employees reinforced the efforts through engaging its employees for a book drive that benefited its partner schools. The project “BOOkas Palad” enabled students from the participating schools get their own copies of Philippine literature books as seen on Knowledge Channel.
