- “The Cure” is technically Philippine Television’s first full zombie series
- “The Cure” was first announced in 2013 with Alden Richards and Louise delos Reyes as lead stars
Like in most zombie movies, if you get bit by a zombie, you’re going to die and come back as a zombie. However, if you die from any other cause, you’re still going to come back as a zombie because the virus is already lying dormant in everyone.
In Hollywood flick “Resident Evil,” the virus was developed in a vast underground genetics laboratory operated by the powerful Umbrella Corporation. Here in “The Cure,” the virus started from Breakthrough Pharmaceutical.
The Monkey Virus Disease (MVD) was supposed to be used for treating cancer. The monkey or gorilla shown in the trailer could be the original host.
The time period for reanimation is anywhere between three minutes and eight hours, though sometimes it feels much quicker. Based on the full trailer of “The Cure,” the incubation period is much longer.
In the movies, the only way to “kill” a zombie is by destroying its brain. Once someone’s body dies, the virus becomes active in their brain and the only way to shut down their body is to shoot through or crush their brain. Though this is not a zombie movie, it looks like its semantics is just the same.
The virus itself could be in the water or airborne, it’s not clear.
The released full trailer showed four waves on how the virus started and became endemic.
Here’s what we have learned so far:
Wave 1: Agnes Salvador is infected with the Monkey Virus Disease (MVD). She is patient zero.
Wave 2: Patient zero infects Patient 1.
Wave 3: Patient Zero and Patient 1 infect more people.
Wave 4: MVD becomes endemic.
