Former GirlTrends member Kelley Day recently signed with GMA Artist Center. She stars in GMA prime time TOTGA: The One That Got Away. She used to be a regular on a Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime.
In an exclusive interview with GMA Network, Kelley revealed that many people had told her that a network transfer will be a bad idea.
In the said interview, Kelley is content with It’s Showtime but she feels uncomfortable.
“I have a lot of people telling me it wasn’t a good idea that you know… I’m content with I had in ‘Showtime’ you know, regular work, regular exposure. But there’s something about me that I can’t be comfortable where I am. Because if you’re comfortable, if you’re content, you’re not pushing yourself.”
Kelley believes that her network transfer will be the best option to pursue her solo career.
“Something about me had no doubt that this was the right idea, it felt right. So even though after I left GirlTrends. I didn’t have a lot of work for a few months and I didn’t know what was gonna happen but I stayed hopeful. If it’s for me, it’s for me talaga.”
The Filipino-British actress received a question whether she would want to become a beauty queen or not. She admitted that she hasn’t prepared for it.
“It’s something that I would definitely consider and I still watch a lot of pageant things just to try to get the feel for it. But I feel like I still have a lot of things to explore pa of the Philippines, to understand about the Filipino culture before I can be the woman that stands and represents the Philippines.”
Kelley said people sometimes would underestimate how hard a beauty pageant is. She then enumerated the preparations beauty queen go thru.
“People underestimate how hard it is because people will see me. ‘Oh, you’re so tall, you’re pretty you can be in pageantry.’ But there is so much more to it, there is like the 100 percent commitment. Learning how to walk, training is like eight hours, nine hours per day and you really have to drop everything if you really want to be the best at what you do.”
